Forge Recycling is celebrating one of our great customers’ recycling and environmental efforts, which have been recognised through their two Green Apple Awards in 2021, one of these being for their Waste Management. Watch the video below to find out more about our partnership and its achievements.
The Ridings is a community-based shopping centre in Wakefield, which not only provides a great service for its customers but also ensures it uses environmentally friendly solutions for the centre’s operational needs.
Forge Recycling service segregated waste streams at The Ridings to ensure as much material is recycled as possible; we collect Mixed Recyclables, Food, Glass Bottles and Cardboard from our own fleet of vehicles. Our Key Account Management Team continues to work with The Ridings to implement the most environmentally efficient service.
As a result of the hard work put in by The Ridings and Forge Recycling to ensure the centre is using the most efficient waste management set-up possible, the below achievements have been made:
- Over 705,000 KHW of energy have been saved
- 1,151 trees have been saved
- £25,000 in General Waste disposal has been saved
- The Ridings recycle 64% of their waste
Lee, the Centre’s Regional Director, said:
“Forge Recycling’s services have allowed us to save our tenants £25,000 a year in waste costs, we have been working with Forge Recycling for over four years and some of their initiatives have actually enabled us to introduce coffee cup recycling which benefits our customers and tenants alike”
